Mining in Peru kit
Canadian Embassy, Peru
In 2008, SCG prepared a Mining in Peru Kit for the Canadian Embassy. A broad consultation process was carried out with the participation of all sectors involved with mining, including representatives from the private sector, civil society and diverse State organizations.
The Kit is a tool designed to foment both knowledge regarding mining activities and the informed participation of all stakeholders in the mining cycle. It includes an Informative Manual, leaflets explaining the different stages of the mining process and a Training Guide.
In 2013, the Embassy asked SCG to make some changes to the different components of the kit. The Manual was updated to reflect changes to mining legislation. Furthermore, a leaflet was prepared on public consultations and a chapter on this issue was included in the Manual.
The material was presented during the Arequipa Mining Convention in September 2013.
